a Subscription
Planning Module
that is Reliable
for Enterprise Retailers
Merchants use the Subscription module to set up configurations, create workflows, and manage their store functioning needs for this particular business model.
I had the chance to design a Subscription module for 3,800+ stores across 38 countries.
In this case, I will explain the Subscription Planning module where users can efficiently configure business rules and conditions to sell their products.

Discover
We started by filling a CSD Matrix (Certainties, Suppositions, and Doubts), discussing our hypothesis, and documenting our doubts and suppositions.
With all this information in mind, we were able to write an Interview Script focused on understanding their profile, and responsibilities, and organize all feedback.
As part of our discovery process, we talked to 5 clients and 1 internal stakeholder. In these conversations, we had the chance to learn from our users and find out how they use the current product in their environments.
We learned a lot, cataloged some use cases, and also answered all our questions and suppositions.
Principles
After some iterations with our team and our users, I created some guiding heuristics to clarify the problem we were solving and our intentions.
Precise
Communicating well the module intentions will open space for the user to understand clearly their tasks.
Trustfull
Users need a safe environment to test their ideas, suppositions, and business rules.
Informative
Show only relevant information to help users to take better and more conscientious decisions.
Agile
Offer actions to save time. Like import tables and bulk associations for SKUs.
Develop
Initially, it was important to organize the information architecture for this solution, so I started by creating a flowchart for the main user flow.
Final interface
After experimenting with different solutions for this experience, I prototyped a high-fidelity version and prepared it for hand-off using Figma.
Plans list
Users can easily view plan performance in terms of revenue and clients, and also edit, delete or create a plan. As some users might need, it's also possible to export all this information.
Plan details | Settings
Every plan has configurations that must be correctly filled. They determine how the subscription will work for the customers, so it's very important that every option is correctly chosen.
Those pieces of information are divided in:
Plans details | SKU's
To complete the process, the plan should be associated with an SKU. This page is divided into All SKUs and Associated SKUs. In this list, users can import and export information, as well as filter SKUs by category.
Bulk SKU association
In order to save time, the bulk association works in a modal with 3 simple steps. The platform provides a reference file to avoid problems when importing data in different formats.
Deliver
After prototyping and validating with the final users, I started the handoff process with the engineers.
Through Figma, they could see the pages organized in flows, and specifications for major interactions, and they could also inspect any element.
Release
After this interface was implemented by the engineers, we were able to start our release process.
Internal alpha
Only internally selected accounts for tests.

Results
Since the first release of the new experience for creating subscription plans, we have seen significant results. We built a dashboard on Amplitude to monitor metrics related to the product's performance.
Reduced by 99% the time spent in plans creation.
Reduced by 88% the ticket rate about setting up plans.
100% acceptance rate among closed beta users.
Increased from 1 to 3 the number of plans created per client.
